Any one here ever experience a torn achilles tendon
by troubled mind inhusband woke up this weekend in pain with soreness right above the heel on his foot .
by sunday he was in so much pain he could hardly walk .
monday his doctor said it looks like an old injury because there is calcification around the area ,and that most likely the tendon had been torn before and might be on the verge of rupturing completely .

Went to xray and waiting to hear what is next ,MRI is my guess then surgery
Have any of you had surgery to repair an Achilles tendon ? If so what can we expect ?

Social Networks are a threat to the Watchtower Society
by FrankWTower inin recent months there have been massive protests and demonstrations against autocratic rulers in the middle east and north africa.
many of these were possible in part because the protesters used social media services like facebook, youtube and twitter to get the word out and let the world know what was going on.
these services are so threatening to many governments that they're blocked in order to control their people.

The Society is losing control over the youth because of social networks . Kids no longer delete friends that are DF'd they just hide their posts or start another account under an alias .For every rule the Elders try to impose, the young ones are finding a loop hole around it . The internet gotta love it !
Remember when calling a girl on the phone was considered dating ??? now there is private chat ,texting , pm's,facebook ,myspace .......

I committed un-suicide yesterday
by AlmightyDog inyesterday i opened my wallet and took a long look at the (no) blood card prominently displayed inside.
i have been convinced that this is not the truth for a couple of years now, and am trying to figure out whether to fade or da.
it hit me hard yesterday that with this piece of paper in my wallet, i could possibly end up dying for beliefs i no longer hold.

Don't forget to inform your Doctor of your decision ! Update all medical records .
The blood issue was one of the main reasons I quit going to meetings .Tearing up my No Blood card was the first thing I did . I had a Doctors appointment that next week and informed him of my choice . We had a long talk about it ,and he was very encouraging to me for making such a big change in my life . Another Doctor, I see once a year for my CDL ,actually gave me a hug when I told him ! We live in a small town ,and he said he lost all his witness patients when they found out he would never refuse blood to an infant in need .

scary ........ Of course I was only 7 yrs old . My Dad was just out of the Military and I was acutely aware of the evening news watching the body count of soldiers lost everyday. Every night us kids had to be silent while Dad watched the news so i saw the violence of civil unrest going on around the States .At school we were taught what to do in case we were bombed by Russia (as if ducking and covering under our desks would really protect us )...All this dovetailed quite nicely with the fear I was learning from the Kingdom Hall ! So as I child the fear of Armaggedon really happening was believable to me because look how bad the world was ........as I grew up I began to realize they will always be able to capitalize on young ones fears because we live in a world of unrest and change .

I'm an HBH
by Lunatic Faith ini have received two visits from car-groups this week and am trying not to freak out.
i think it is because the co's visit is coming up.
i have been home-but-hiding both times.

Ignore ,ignore, ignore .......wash ,rinse ,repeat ..... You are probably right that they are coming by because the CO visit is close . Things will go back to off the radar after his visit is over is my guess.
If they do run into you in public and ask to come by for an encouraging call .....DO NOT ACCEPT ......I made that mistake . Just thank them for their concern and let them know you will call if you need anything .
Just a heads up if you don't want to go back then don't let them back in your life even for a minute .
Always remember your personal life does not need to be open to those you do not choose to discuss it with . It really is YOUR choice.

Anyone have a Kindle or a Nook?
by Simon ini really don't like the ipad (or apple) but i think an ebook reader would be nice.
nothing made by sony though .... the amazon kindle and barnes & noble nook look to be the best (esp.
with the recent price reductions) but i'd like any insight from anyone who has one.

Local Elder advises Young woman to make up with abusive husband
by troubled mind injust never ceases to amaze me how things in the organization stay the same .
you would think by 2011 these guys could come up with something better than " makeup now ,you know jehovah hates a divorcing !
" ( but obviously he doesn't mind a woman being abused !

Just never ceases to amaze me how things in the organization stay the same . You would think by 2011 these guys could come up with something better than " makeup now ,you know Jehovah hates a divorcing !" ( but obviously he doesn't mind a woman being abused !) geniuses....
This young wife was pushed down a flight of stairs by her JW husband ... this is not the first time abuse has occured . Her JW family has finally had enough and support her leaving . Yet here comes a YOUNG wet behind the ears Elder advising her to work it out !
My thoughts would have been to tell him to mind his own business . Or at least have him ponder the implications that could be heaped upon him ,IF she went back and next time she was hurt so badly she died ......how would he feel being partial to blame ?
I just have lost patience with ignorrant advice extolled by untrained Elders .
